Welcome to the New School Year

Dear Parent/Carer

I hope you have had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to returning to school tomorrow.  I am writing with a few helpful reminders and key information.

Uniform

A quick reminder about uniform.  Pupils should wear the following for the Autumn Term: 

• black/grey trousers, shorts, dress or skirt;
• white polo shirt (Early Years, 1, 2, 3 and 4);
• white shirt & school tie (Years 5 and 6);
• white or black socks;
• school jumper/burgundy plain jumper or cardigan; and
• black school shoes (not trainers).
• While the weather is still warm enough, pupils are welcome to wear their summer dresses to school. 

On PE days pupils should come to school wearing PE kit, pupils should wear: 

• black or burgundy shorts/trousers;
• burgundy t-shirt or polo shirt;
• trainers (plimsolls are suitable for indoor PE only); and
• school jumper or cardigan.
• Pupils should not wear football kits for PE. 

PE 

There will be no PE on Thursday 3 September or Friday 4 September for all classes. 

On a PE Day, your child should come to school in PE Kit.  We will let you know each classes PE Day by the end of the week. 

The School Day 

School begins at 8.45am each morning.  In order for your child to be marked as present and access every learning opportunity, they must be in the classroom by 9.00am.  After 9.00am, your child will be marked as late.  Lateness is an unauthorised absence. 

• Early Years – 8.45am to 3.10pm
• Years 1 and 2 – 8.45am to 3.15pm
• Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 – 8.45am to 3:20pm 

Our Wraparound Care runs from Monday to Friday during term time: 

• 7.50am to 8:45am - Before School Club; and
• 3.10pm to 5.30pm – After School Club. 

Entry into School 

Early Years (Nursery and Reception) will be greeted at the front door by Mrs Valentine or Mrs Bloomfield each morning.  The children will then be supported in walking down to the classroom. 

Years 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 will enter through the front door and walk to their classroom. 

Year 6 will enter through the front door and then exit the school through the doors directly opposite the front door and then make their way round to the cabin via the path. 

Cycling to School 

It has been lovely to see so many children cycling to school since we had the bike shelter moved to the front of the school.  We ask that children walk their bike/scooter up and down the driveway (Year 1 to Year 6) to the bike shelter.  Children must wear a helmet when cycling.  

School Field 

As the sun appears less frequently and rain becomes more of a common occurrence, our school field gets increasingly muddy.  We endeavor to allow the children on the field every lunch time, but do request they have a second pair of shoes to change into.  Wellies are perfect or an older pair of shoes you are happy for your child to get covered in mud.  These shoes can remain in school. 

Walnut Tree 

A reminder that we have two walnut trees on our school grounds.  The children are told they should not play with the walnuts which come off the tree. 

Forest School 

This term, Red Class (Year 6) and Orange Class (Year 5) will have Forest School.  These sessions will be on a Friday each week.  The first Forest School session for Red and Orange Classes will be Friday 18 September.  Further information will be sent out regarding clothing required for the sessions. 

Wraparound Care 

A reminder that Wraparound Care sessions are now available to book on Arbor.  Please do not hesitate to contact the School Office if you experience any problems.
