Invitation for nominations for Parent Governor Vacancy
Parent Governor Nomination Form
The role is a significant commitment and here are some of the things that governors give in time and expertise.
Time Commitment
- The role does involve some time commitment each term.
- There are two full governor meetings are term (lasting between 1 ½ to 2 hours each)
- You would also need to be involved in one of our sub committees. This is either the Resource committee (looking at finances and resources and health and safety for the school) or the School Development Committee (looking at curriculum, teaching, SEND and pupil related issues). This would entail 2 meetings a term of about an hour each.
Monitoring
Governors are also required to help in monitoring the school and making governor visits to see first-hand on areas the governors are monitoring.
- This could entail 1 or 2 visits a term and writing up monitoring to share with other governors.
- These visits tend to be done in pairs/groups so you are not alone in doing this.
- We provide mentoring and training to do the role.
Expertise
Each governor will being their experience and there are various roles that individuals can offer. For example Health & Safety, Safeguarding and Special Needs are areas we have individual governor roles for. Governors taking on these roles monitor these areas.
